Walker & Dunlop has promoted Sheri Thompson to executive vice president and FHA finance group head. In the new role, she will be responsible for all aspects of the multifamily and health-care lending through the U.S. Department of Hoausing and Urban Development and will be working out of the firm’s Bethesda, Md., headquarters.

With more than 25 years of experience, Thompson was part of the credit and origination of $9 billion in transactions over the last three years. She rejoined Walker & Dunlop at the beginning of 2019 from PGIM Real Estate Finance, where she served as Chief Operating Officer for the agency’s lending group. She oversaw the group’s day-to-day activities, including trading, deal management, as well as underwriting and closing processes. Prior to that, she was chief underwriter and head of at-risk credit for Red Capital Group. Thompson joined Green Park Financial—which now operates as Walker & Dunlop—in 1994 as an underwriter.

Thompson has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University. She is involved in several industry organizations including the Urban Land Institute and nonprofits the Alpha Omicron Pi Properties Board, Code of Support Foundation and The Bollinger Foundation.

In one of its largest moves this year, Walker & Dunlop structured $340 million in financing for Cortland’s acquisition of PURE Multi-Family REIT.
