Walker & Dunlop has expanded its Utah presence with the hiring of Colton Smith as senior director in the firm’s Salt Lake City, Utah office.
Smith will oversee sourcing debt financing across all asset classes on a national level, as well as expanding the company’s influence within the greater Utah area.
Having more than a decade of experience in real estate, Smith completed more than $1 billion in debt originations throughout his career. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, he held a First Vice President title at Marcus & Millichap, where he secured financing for a range of property types, including multifamily, office, senior housing and retail.
Before his 14-year stint at Marcus & Millichap, Smith founded the commercial lending branch for a real estate group in Salt Lake City. His education includes an MBA in Finance from the University of Denver and a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Investment from the Harvard Extension School.
Earlier this month, Walker & Dunlop also bolstered its footprint in Ohio, with the hiring of a local property sales team. Managing Director Andrew DiBlasi will lead the efforts of the new unit based in Columbus, Ohio.
