Universe Holdings Appoints New COO
In his new role, Jonathan Cohen will be in charge of the company’s California portfolio growth strategy and potential expansion plans.
Universe Holdings has selected Jonathan Cohen as chief operating officer. In the new role, he will manage the growth of the company’s California portfolio with acquisitions of value-added properties of 150 units and more, with a potential expansion toward the Midwest and Eastern U.S.
“Jonathan’s expertise gives us an experienced professional to lean on as we identify potential properties in markets where we have not previously been active,” said Henry Manoucheri, founder & CEO of Universe Holdings, in a prepared statement.
As a member of the company’s executive committee, Cohen will be responsible for the overall business operations, including sourcing and analyzing potential acquisitions, assisting in the financial and physical due diligence and overseeing all property operations after closing.
“The goal is to double our portfolio within the next two to three years and double it again within five years,” said Cohen, in prepared remarks
Cohen brings 30 years of multifamily experience to the position. Previously, he was a multifamily consultant working with family offices and real estate investment firms underwriting and performing due diligence on more than $350 million worth of assets. From 2012 to 2014, he was senior vice president with Westminster Management Division of Kushner Cos. Throughout his career, he managed multi-state portfolios totaling almost 50,000 units in the Midwest and the East Coast.
