SummerHill Apartment Communities Creates Southern California Division and Hires Patrick S. Simons as Senior Vice President
SummerHill Apartment Communities, a division of SummerHill Housing Group based in San Ramon, Calif., announced that the firm has hired multifamily industry veteran Patrick S. Simons as senior vice president to lead SummerHill Apartment Communities' new Southern California division.
Irvine, Calif.—SummerHill Apartment Communities, a division of SummerHill Housing Group based in San Ramon, Calif., announced that the firm has hired multifamily industry veteran Patrick S. Simons as senior vice president to lead SummerHill Apartment Communities’ new Southern California division. The company’s new office is located at 18401 Von Karman Avenue, Suite 420 in Irvine.
In his new role, Simons will be focused initially on creating a high volume of future projects throughout Southern California to meet the ambitious goals of SummerHill Apartment Communities. Simons will be directly involved in all aspects of the company’s activities from land acquisition, financing, and development through construction, lease up, and disposition of apartment assets from Ventura County in the north to San Diego County in the south.
According to Freed, SummerHill Apartment Communities plans to replicate its success in Northern California where the company currently has more than 1,200 units in its growing pipeline. The business plan includes purchasing both entitled, permit-ready sites as well as unentitled opportunities for multifamily communities in urban locations. SummerHill Apartment Communities is also able to draw upon a 50+ year history in all aspects of design, construction, management, and financing through its affiliation with Marcus & Millichap Company, a diversified real estate holding company.
Prior to joining SummerHill Apartment Communities, Simons had built an internationally respected market research and economic forecasting firm specializing in rental housing with clients that included several large financial institutions and publicly traded companies.
Over his 20-year real estate career, he has been responsible for the development or redevelopment of more than 10,000 apartment or condo units while holding executive positions with major commercial and apartment development companies such as LNR Property Corporation, JPI and the Kaufman & Broad Multi-Housing Group.
Simons is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development. He is also a licensed California real estate broker and an active member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), locally and nationally. Simons resides in Orange County with his wife and children, and is involved in several community and charitable organizations.
