Peters serves on RED’s leadership committee and co-heads its Affordable Housing Group, which provides financing through FHA, Fannie Mae DUS®, proprietary capital lending and servicing, and bond structuring and underwriting expertise. He joined RED’s predecessor entity in 1993 as a specialist in structuring bond underwriting and placement issues for apartment projects enhanced primarily with FHA Mortgage Insurance/GNMA Mortgage-backed Securities or Fannie Mae Mortgage-backed Securities. His expertise with affordable housing transactions over the years has extended to numerous bond and tax credit financings where Peters served as the lead banker, including Section 236, Section 202, New Issue Bond Proceeds, and mark-to-market refinance transactions involving FHA insured loans, Fannie Mae enhancement, and letters of credit. Peters also was instrumental in structuring one of the nation’s first tax-exempt bond/taxable GNMA issues, an innovative structure in affordable housing, and he has worked with and advised local housing authorities, non-profit developers, for-profit affordable housing developers, and seniors housing providers on capital structures and financing. Peters is a frequent speaker at industry events, based on his leadership in and ongoing commitment to the affordable housing industry.
