Albany, N.Y.—From keeping rents affordable to complying with local laws that reflect aggressive sustainability goals, the challenges for multifamily building owners and developers are complex and continuous. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is holding seminars on Thursday, May 8 in Manhattan to help address the critical, persistent issues that are impacting the performance of multifamily buildings.
The free seminars will connect multifamily building owners, property managers, developers and board members of condominium and co-op associations with the resources they need to begin taking advantage of customizable energy-efficiency programs through NYSERDA’s Multifamily Energy Performance Portfolio. Seminar participants will receive an overview of the technical assistance and incentives that are available, and learn from panel presentations by Multifamily Performance Program Partners—experts who help owners implement energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives at existing buildings and new construction projects.
Â
Properties that make energy-efficiency upgrades through the programs can generally realize significant cost savings—up to 20 percent or more—and offer residents units that are more comfortable, healthier and sustainable.
