Medistar Corp. began the development of a new transitional care facility at the southwestern corner of McKay Road and McKay Crossing Drive in Humble, Texas. Pi Architects are currently designing the 104-bed facility, which SCI Construction Inc. will build, with completion scheduled in 2018.
The 60,000-gross-square-feet facility will be located near the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and will have easy access to Interstate 69. The property will include 70 beds of skilled nursing focused on short-term rehabilitation care, 18 beds of assisted living and 16 beds of memory care. The center will provide medical, rehabilitative and social services to patients and senior residents following an injury or illness.
“For this important project, Medistar has worked diligently to align the real estate solution to enhance operational, clinical and financial efficiencies and provide an exceptional experience for patients, providers and guests,” said Paul McCleary, vice president of business development for Medistar, in prepared remarks.
Houston facilities underway
The asset is fewer than 20 miles north of downtown Houston and some 40 miles from VibraLife of Katy, a new VibraLife post-acute and residential care community announced last month, which Medistar is developing in partnership with Vibra Healthcare and Memorial Hermann Health System. Another 90-bed assisted living and memory care facility is underway, southeast of Houston.
