Jefferson Apartment Group to Develop Luxury Community Near Johns Hopkins

Baltimore—Jefferson Apartment Group recently broke ground on a residential community in East Baltimore near Johns Hopkins Medical Center. This is the second major residential project in the area.

The community, called Jefferson Square at Washington Hill, will include 304 luxury units. The mixed-unit development will also contain private courtyards and a 405-space parking garage that will connect to each level of the community.

Amenities for Jefferson Square at Washington Hill will include a theater, pub room with gaming tables and a resident business/study lounge.

Jefferson Square at Washington Hill will also include 21,000 square feet of retail space.

“In addition to our luxury apartment units, we will also develop over 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail,” James Duncan, senior vice president and partner, Jefferson Apartment Group, tells MHN. “We recently signed a lease with CVS for half of the space and we are looking to fill the remaining spaces with retail tenants that will be valuable to our apartment residents, the surrounding community and the professionals who work on the medical campus.”

Currently, the daytime population in the area surrounding Johns Hopkins is 50,195, and 239,514 within three miles.

“We are excited to be working in this growing area of Baltimore,” Duncan says. “The recent and significant investment in the prestigious Johns Hopkins medical campus raises the institution’s profile even further. Proximity to the new ‘front door’ of the Hospital and its related research facilities is clearly the driver for our development project. Our future residents will be able to walk to all parts of the medical campus while having immediate access to other parts of the city.”
