ARA Newmark has hired Lydia Thompson as senior managing director in the company’s office in Portland, Ore., where she will be responsible for originating and managing multifamily investment sales. Thompson will be working closely with industry veterans Vice Chairman Gail Neuburg and Managing Director Robert Black.

ARA’s new senior managing director has more than 23 years of experience in the business, covering areas such as Oregon, Southwest Washington and Southern California. Her previous roles include senior director of real estate at Greystar and vice president at Holland Residential for 13 years.

Her extensive experience in the multi-housing industry, her strong relationships with institutional clients in the Northwest region and “her market knowledge make her a perfect addition to our team”, Neuburg said in a prepared statement. “Last year, we transacted 40 percent of all urban multifamily sales in Portland and 30 percent of sales in the entire market, and Lydia will play a key role in helping us exceed those numbers this year.”

Thompson is an alumni of Willamette University, with a degree in exercise science, and she holds broker licenses in Oregon and Washington.
