Freddie Mac Promotes Key Investment Executive

Freddie Mac Multifamily has promoted Ling Xu to the role of vice president of Multifamily Investments and Portfolio Management.

Her current responsibilities call for her to manage Freddie Mac’s Multifamily portfolio strategy, hedging and balance sheet management. In her new post, she will add market risk and capital strategy to those ongoing responsibilities. She will also continue to be responsible for the development and expansion of the GSE’s Multifamily credit risk transfer executions, including reinsurance, whole loan investment funds, PCs and structured credit risk notes.

A recipient of a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China, she went on to earn a masters of business administration in finance from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, she is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Greater responsibilities

She launched her Freddie Mac career in 2002, serving in the role of business application project manager. By 2006, she had ascended the corporate ranks to director. She then left Freddie Mac to join American Capital. A couple years later, she rejoined Freddie Mac and went on to assume greater and greater responsibilities, most recently adding the duties of senior director of Multifamily Portfolio Strategy and Execution.

Within the ranks of Freddie Mac, she is known for her robust leadership skills and for helping Freddie Mac Multifamily capital market offerings and risk management set the bar in the industry. Freddie Mac is the nation’s finance leader in the multifamily housing sector. Earlier this month, Freddie Mac loans figured prominently in HSL Properties obtaining the financing needed to acquire a four-property Arizona portfolio.
