Charlotte, N.C.–Ginkgo Residential has added Nazar Elwazir as director of acquisitions. He will oversee the growth of Ginkgo’s apartment portfolio, evaluating acquisition opportunities throughout the South.
As part of his responsibilities, Elwazir will also help identify properties suitable for a new joint venture between Ginkgo Residential and Starwood Capital Group reached earlier this year to acquire and rehabilitate workforce housing on a national basis. The program will also focus on improving energy efficiency of apartment communities through the installation of Energy Star windows, appliances and HVAC systems, low flow toilets, and energy-efficient lighting.
Elwazir was previously an associate in the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Deutsche Bank Securities. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
