Douglaston Development Welcomes New EVP
Arden Sokolow has worked for more than a decade in the affordable housing industry, in both the public and private sectors.

Douglaston Development has hired Arden Sokolow to serve as executive vice president of affordable housing. Bringing more than a decade of experience to her new role, Sokolow will focus primarily on affordable housing preservation and development, government relations and community outreach.
Previously, Sokolow worked for a year as chief of staff for the New York City Housing Authority, where she negotiated an agreement between the U.S. Attorney and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regarding NYCHA compliance issues. In addition, she helped create the NYCHA 2.0 Plan, which aims to raise $24 billion for the authority.
Sokolow’s other roles include a stint as director of multifamily in the Northeast at HUD, managing director for housing programs at the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery and several positions at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, where she created a program for distressed assets to address the impact the last recession had on the housing market. Sokolow has a B.A. in urban studies from Columbia University and a Master’s degree in urban planning from Hunter College.
