Nashville, Tenn.—Doster Construction announced Edward Lee Smith as vice president and the leader of our Nashville office. Smith has over 30 years of professional experience in healthcare, higher education, institutional and commercial design and construction. He has overseen the construction of more than $3 billion of complex projects throughout the country, including nearly $500 million in healthcare, hotel, retail, office and mixed-use projects in the Nashville area. Smith has also been responsible for leading preconstruction on some of the largest healthcare CON’s in the Southeast, serving clients such as Children’s of Alabama, UAB and Duke Medicine. Possessing a blend of programmatic, design, preconstruction and construction experience, he has demonstrated strategy, planning, management and leadership capabilities. Smith’s approach to integrated project delivery is professional, innovative and collaborative, placing equal emphasis on team building and building projects for clients.
Smith will lead and build upon the Nashville office that Doster established in the 1980’s, continuing its presence, commitment and growth in the Northern Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky region. Doster has helped mold the Nashville community and skyline with notable projects like Saturn, Velocity in the Gulch, 1700 Midtown and The Freedom Forum. Doster currently has nearly $200 million of work in the planning stage or underway in the Nashville area including a 40-bed inpatient rehab hospital for HealthSouth near Williamson Medical Center, Tapestry Brentwood Town Center, Fountains at Germantown, and an upcoming project for HealthSouth at Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital.
