Deborah A. Schiavo Joins Cohen Financial As MD of Debt Advisory Services

Chicago–Cohen Financial has appointed Deborah A. Schiavo as managing director of Debt Advisory Services. Schiavo’s primary focus will be on commercial real estate loan modifications and workouts, assumptions, extensions, financing and lender/servicer negotiations.

She brings more than 15 years of commercial real estate finance experience, most recently as senior director and co-head of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation’s Debt Advisory Group. In this position, Schiavo co-founded the team that managed commercial real estate advisory assignments involving loan balances in excess of $400 million.

For an 11-year period prior to her position with Marcus & Millichap, Schiavo was a managing director of the Commercial Mortgage Department at J. P Morgan (formerly Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc.) Prior to this, she managed the commercial mortgage loan closing group at Smith Barney (now part of Citigroup) and worked for nine years as an investment banker at PaineWebber (now UBS).

Schiavo will work closely with all Cohen Financial offices and in affiliation with Colliers International to manage and provide a host of commercial real estate loan advisory services. She replaces Joseph Franzetti.
