New York–Meltzer/Mandl Architects, P.C. has named David G. Carpenter, AIA, NCARB, LEED-AP, a partner and executive vice president of the firm, according to Marvin H. Meltzer, AIA, the founding partner of the firm.
Carpenter, 46, has been with the firm for seven years as a vice president, and is now the firm’s only other partner besides Meltzer. Meltzer credits him with a critical role in guiding and restructuring the firm through a difficult period following the death of co-founder David Mandl in 2007.
Carpenter has more than 20 years of experience in the design and administration of complex mixed-use development projects. He is a former executive of JGM Inc. in Los Angeles, one of the nation’s largest minority-owned firms in the fields of architecture and program and construction management.
Meltzer/Mandl is an award-winning firm known primarily for its design of more than 10,000 units of affordable and market-rate housing in the New York metropolitan area. The restructuring spearheaded by Carpenter has also substantially strengthened the firm’s presence in the mixed-use and hospitality sectors.
At Meltzer/Mandl, Carpenter’s responsibilities include business development, collections and finance, contract negotiation and pre-development analysis. He has extensive experience in zoning and regulatory issues, having worked closely with several New York City regulatory agencies.
