Capitalizing on the Brooklyn Boom

New York—AECOM subsidiary Tishman Construction has been selected to provide construction management services for Greenland Forest City Partners’ 535 Carlton Avenue, an 18-story residential tower in Brooklyn, N.Y.

It is part of the 22-acre Pacific Park Brooklyn, which is being developed by Greenland Forest City Partners, a joint venture between Forest City Ratner Companies, a subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises Inc., and Greenland USA, a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Greenland Group Co.

The residential building will provide much-needed affordable housing to a broad array of New Yorkers, says Bob Sanna, executive vice president and director of construction and design development for Forest City Ratner Companies.

“We are very pleased to have Tishman Construction on board as our construction management partner,” Sanna adds. “They have a record of excellence that we believe will contribute greatly to the completion of this building.”

Brooklyn is witnessing a dramatic revitalization that began with the development of the new Barclays Center. Pacific Park will serve to continue that wholesale metamorphosis, says Jay Badame, president and chief operating officer of Tishman Construction in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“We are proud to be working with Greenland Forest City to build 535 Carlton Avenue, bringing additional affordable units to this vibrant community,” he adds.

Set in a prime location at the corner of Carlton Ave. and Dean St., 535 Carlton Avenue will provide almost 300 of Pacific Park’s planned 2,250 affordable housing units. The 292,000-square-foot building was designed by New York’s COOKFOX Architects to complement the distinctive aesthetic and character of the Prospect Heights neighborhood in which the development will be situated.

Ground was broken for 535 Carlton Avenue in mid-December, and construction is slated to be completed in 2017.
