Berkadia Names New Student Housing Managing Director

Brandon Buell brings 10 years of industry experience, having previously worked at Newmark Knight Frank.

Berkadia has appointed Brandon Buell as senior managing director at its student housing group. He will be based in Houston, working alongside Kevin Larimer, senior managing director.

Buell has 10 years of industry experience and previously served as managing director at Newmark Knight Frank.  During his five-year tenure, he was involved in more than $3.5 billion of purpose-built multifamily transactions. Before NKF, he acted as associate partner at ApexOne Investments Partners, where he handled student housing transactions within a 33-state area.

The newly appointed senior managing director has experience with large student housing joint venture partners, including Crow Holdings, Balfour Beatty, and Behringer Harvard. Buell has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University – Rawls College of Business.

In June, Berkadia arranged the sale of Towne Square Apartments and Townhomes, a 532-unit, student housing community in Lansing, Mich. Hunter Management acquired the asset from DTN Management Co. Kevin Larimer was part of the brokerage team.
