Avison Young to Relocate Headquarters, Reduce Carbon Footprint

Toronto--Avison Young is moving its headquarters to a new, greener office tower, as a way to lead by example in striving toward sustainability.

Toronto–Avison Young, a Canada-based independently owned commercial real estate services company, will be relocating its global corporate headquarters to PwC Tower at Southcore Financial Centre, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation’s new development that is being built to target LEED Gold certification. The move to this mixed-use sustainable development reinforces the firm’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

The new tower is currently under construction and will comprise 650,000 square feet across 26 floors when complete in fall 2011. Avison Young’s 60 head-office employees plan to relocate in the second quarter of 2012.

Avison Young Chair and CEO Mark Rose says the firm is making the move in accordance with advice he and his colleagues routinely gives their clients. “Avison Young is setting the example for its peer group by embracing the need to reduce our carbon footprint and drive standards for sustainability,” Rose says.
