AvalonBay Names New SVP for NYC Development
AvalonBay Communities announced that Martin Piazzola has joined the Company as senior vice president of development.
Arlington, Va.—AvalonBay Communities, a real estate investment trust (REIT) with multi-family apartment communities in high barrier-to-entry markets of the United States, announced that Martin Piazzola has joined the Company as senior vice president of development. He will work closely with Fred Harris, current head of New York City development, until Harris’ planned retirement on December 31, 2011. Effective January 1, 2012, Piazzola will become head of New York City development.
Piazzola came to AvalonBay from Lincoln Property Company where from 2004 he was vice president for New York City development projects. From 1999 to 2004, he served as executive vice president of the Clarett Group. From 1993 to 1998, he was vice president at Nippon Life Insurance Company where he was responsible for capital investments, leasing, financing, sales and management of the Company’s U.S. commercial property portfolio. In the course of his career, Piazzola’s experience in New York City development has ranged from residential (both condo and rental) high rises to high profile office buildings.
