ARA Adds New SVP to Chicago Team

James Mitchell, who brings with him 30 years of experience in real estate, will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s sales and client relationships.

James Mitchell, the former national director of asset management with BMO Asset Management, joined American Realty Advisors’ investor sales team in Chicago. In his new role as senior vice president & client portfolio manager, Mitchell will be in charge of leading the company’s sales efforts and client relationships including the Taft-Hartley community.

We are dedicated to helping plan sponsors meet their obligations in securing the future for their plan participants and beneficiaries, and Jimmy will be a strong addition to accomplish these goals,” said Jay Butterfield, ARA’s executive managing director, in prepared remarks.

Experience working with trusteed funds

Prior to this position, Mitchell worked for several jointly trusteed funds nationwide, where he gained experience working with clients from the Taft-Hartley community. He was BMO’s national director of asset management relationship development, focusing on asset management, trust and custody as well as the community’s banking needs. Before that, Mitchell served as Northern Trust’s national director of the Taft-Hartley Investment Client Solutions Group.

His 30 years of experience in real estate also connect him to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the Automobile Mechanics Local 701 and Thomas Harvey. Mitchell is a Dominican University graduate with a degree in business administration and accounting and is also a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Illinois CPA Society, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Purple Hearts Foundation.
