Annex Student Living Promotes Rob Martinson to CIO

Annex Student Living named Rob Martinson the new chief investment officer of the company, as well as another new hire.

Indianapolis—Student housing developer Annex Student Living recently announced the promotion of Rob Martinson to chief investment officer. Additionally, Annex has named Julie Elliott the in-house general counsel.

As CIO, Martinson is responsible for overseeing all investment opportunities, managing and monitoring the organization’s portfolio, and developing strategies for growth. Martinson served as vice president of development for Annex since 2013. With 15 years of legal experience, Elliott is responsible for developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the interests of the multifamily housing developer.

“Annex Student Living doubled its assets last year alone,” said Annex CEO Bach in prepared remarks. “With Rob and Julie in these strategic roles, Annex will be able to achieve even greater growth in the near future.” Annex has more than 3,000 beds in operation and development across the country and its portfolio of communities is projected to grow in excess of $150 million by 2016.

Throughout his career, Martinson has managed real estate transactions totaling more than $300 million in retail, office, industrial, flex, self-storage, multifamily and student housing. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Elliott, an Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law graduate, previously served as the associate general counsel for a national real estate investment and development company where she was responsible for all legal aspects of development and leading a legal team that supported the company’s development activities. She also has served as a real estate paralegal for Bose McKinney & Evans LLP and Henderson Daily Withrow & DeVoe.
