YES Housing has begun site work on Nuevo Atrisco, a mixed-use development planned to include 88 units of affordable housing above street-level retail in Albuquerque, N.M. The project’s retail element will include between 80,000 and 90,000 square feet, according to KOB 4 Eyewitness News.

The developer plans to break ground in early 2019, with the community’s first residents moving in 18 months later, according to KRQE News.

Located at 7909 Central Ave. N.W. in Albuquerque’s West Side, the four-story development is set to rise across the street from a CVS Pharmacy, with the Coors Boulevard retail corridor less than a mile away. The city’s central business district is approximately 5 miles east of the project site.

Plans for the Dekker Perich Sabatini-designed affordable housing community call for a mix of 21 one-, 42 two- and 17 three-bedroom apartments. YES Housing intends to construct an addition eight live-work units along Unser Boulevard. On-site amenities are slated to include laundry facilities, two elevators, common areas and a social service provider’s office.
