Is there ever a valid reason to let a renter out of a lease early?

Leases are critical for property managers. Not only do they spell out in detail all the terms of renting the apartment, but they protect the interests of both the resident and the property manager.

Sometimes a resident might need to leave an apartment before the end of the lease. Of course, a lease is a contract saying that the renter will stay in the apartment for a specific amount of time so that the property manager isn’t left with an empty apartment to fill. It is the property manager’s prerogative to hold residents to their lease agreements.

But, once in a while, it might be in the property manager’s interest to be flexible.
