As technology comes to play an ever increasing role in our day-to-day lives, you should expect touchscreens to show up with increased frequency in the places we call home. We have seen touchscreen locks, touchscreen mailroom interfaces and thermostats, smoke alarms and lighting all controlled by the touchscreen computers we carry around in our pockets. KONE has now introduced a touchscreen destination control system for elevators known as Polaris.
Now, at first you might think that a simple button to call an elevator would suffice. For many properties, that is probably the case. In larger or mixed-use properties with several elevators going to separate floors, a touchscreen interface is a great way to eliminate any confusion in the lobby. It is also an excellent way to get your residents interacting with their building. The system can also be setup for controlled access, meaning amenity areas or penthouses can be reached with a pass code or swipe card.
The Polaris Destination Control System employs a large, highly-responsive touchscreen that can even be used with gloves. After selecting a destination on the high-contrast display, an arrow appears directing the user to the appropriate elevator. The intuitive interface can be integrated with either KONE or third-party access control solutions. In addition, the unit features audio support and a dedicated accessibility button with Braille markings that improves building accessibility. To top it all off, the sleek modern glass and aluminum design will blend seamlessly into a variety of architectural interiors.
