Tutera Breaks Ground on $40M Senior Living Community
The original proposal for Mission Chateau, located in Prairie Village, Kan., called for a 350,000-square-foot community; the new plan scales down the development to 286,000 square feet.

Kansas City, Kan.—After several years and dozens of contentious community meetings, Tutera Group broke ground on its $40 million Mission Chateau senior living community on Wednesday.
The project, expected to be complete in September 2017, will sit on 18.4 acres at 85th Street and Mission Road. Residents will choose from 200 units that offer options for independent living, assisted living and memory care. Other amenities include a fitness center with a “mind-body spa” with indoor and outdoor pools, masseuses and yoga classes, indoor greenhouse, valet services for residents and guests, 3,500-square-foot villas and multiple restaurant-style dining options.
“Mission Chateau represents Tutera’s ‘inspired by you’ mission to offer high-quality residential options suited to seniors’ varied lifestyles while also offering residents seamless access to Tutera’s integrated health care support services throughout the Kansas City metro area,” Tutera COO Dr. Randy Bloom said in a prepared statement.
Tutera has collaborated with local architects Nearing Staats Prelogar & Jones and BHC RHODES on the project, and recently hired studioSIX5 to handle interior design.
