South Barrington, Ill.—Irving, Texas-based The LaSalle Group and Autumn Leaves has announced that it will open a 29,000-square-foot memory care community in South Barrington, Ill. The $11.1 million community, Autumn Leaves of South Barrington, will provide care for 50 residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory impairment and will be the first Autumn Leaves community in the Chicago area.
“We are an extremely unique community in South Barrington, and we are thrilled to bring our passion for memory care to the Village,” says Barbara Schechtel, executive director of Autumn Leaves of South Barrington. “We are compassionate experts at all levels of dementia care, and I look forward to making a difference in the lives of our residents.”
Along with its advanced building design, Autumn Leaves of South Barrington will feature state-of-the-art technology to help create a serene, safe and engaging living environment for its residents. The community will include a motion sensor program called the Vigil System, which will be installed in each resident’s room to allow them safer independent living. The sensors will alert staff members if they are needed and helps to gather information that can help provide a more comfortable experience for the resident.
“We often see frustration when our residents and their families focus on what ‘used to be,’” Schechtel says. “At Autumn Leaves, we bring out the beauty and passion that exists today in the lives of our residents. We offer many activities designed to engage our residents. I am excited to see their faces light up during music or pet therapy, and while they are gardening outside.”
In addition to the general care provided, Autumn Leaves will also offer free programs such as seminars, speakers, and a monthly Alzheimer’s support group, all of which are open to the public.
The community is located about 35 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop on the corner of Higgins and Bartlett Roads.
“I couldn’t be any more excited about our opening,” says Lora Ellis, director of sales and marketing for Autumn Leaves of South Barrington. “When you walk in, the love you feel is real. For our residents, this is their home and making sure that they feel at home is at the heart of what we do.”
