Phuket, Thailand—W Hotels Worldwide has recently announced to debut W Retreat Phuket – Phang Nga Bay in southern Thailand. The new project will be the brand’s third facility in the country and is scheduled to open in January 2018.

W Hotels Worldwide is a part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. since 1998. The aggressively growing brand portfolio includes 72 luxury and design-led lifestyle hotels worldwide, 28 of which are currently under development. Under eight brands, Starwood operates 23 properties in Thailand and three of these are located in Phuket Province: Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa and The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, Phuket.

The new property is owned by Dr. Wutthisak Limphanit, a Thailand-based medical doctor and skincare entrepreneur. Thanks to its remote location on the island of Koh Yao Noi, the W Retreat Phuket – Phang Nga Bay will offer a complete arrary of leisure activities. Koh Yao Noi is one of the largest islands in the bay between Phuket and the mainland. Its beaches suitable for swimming and snorkeling are mainly on the east coast, while the west coast is blanketed in rice fields and lined with mangroves. The location is accessible from both Phuket International Airport and Krabi Airport, with high-speed sea vessels, a private jet and helicopter.

Singapore-based Ministry of Design will be in charge of architecture and interior design for the project that includes 79 standalone villas. These units starting from around 1670 square feet will feature private outdoor areas with plunge pools and command views of the unique limestone cliffs of the bay. W Retreat Phuket – Phang Nga Bay will also offer a lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant and a specialty restaurant and bar. It will feature almost 1300 square feet of modern meeting and event space, a workout facility with swimming pool as well as a contemporary spa with six treatment rooms.
