downloadUpon first hitting the market in 2012, Duravit’s OpenSpace foldable shower presented game-changing innovation, offering a shower enclosure that was able to fold flush to the wall to create additional, usable space. Duravit is now reintroducing the concept with OpenSpace B, a version expanded to include new sizes to fit different layout ideas, along with an appropriate new price point.

“The original OpenSpace received a fantastic amount of positive feedback,” said Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder. “We wanted to revisit the design to add more size options so that we could broaden our market reach and encourage even more designers and specifiers to use OpenSpace B as a design solution in their projects.”

787238_web2_mil_normal_2The new model will offer four different dimensions – 35” x 35”, 39” x 39”, 35” x 31”, and 39” x 35” – which will allow for endless layout planning possibilities. OpenSpace B can be combined with any Duravit shower tray or placed directly on the tiled floor.

Carrying over the same unique look as the original, the optional mirrored door hides the tap fittings and shower attachments, creating a clean look while making the room appear larger. The second shower door is made of clear glass. A lifting and lowering mechanism is included in the door profile, guaranteeing both doors stop automatically in the shower position and rest directly on the shower tray or floor.

OpenSpace B’s components are pre-fabricated, allowing for much simpler installation, even for the uneven walls found in older buildings. Also, minor engineering modifications allow Duravit to lower the price of OpenSpace B, making it more accessible for a wider variety of specifiers and markets.
