SecureSpace Opens Inland Empire Self Storage Facility

InSite broke ground on the project in 2023.

A new facility operating under the SecureSpace Self Storage brand has opened in San Bernardino, Calif. InSite developed the 87,365-square-foot property, Yardi Matrix data shows.

Construction on the project began in April 2023. Earlier in March, the developer secured a $9.5 million construction loan from Valley National Bank, according to the same source.

The three-building Class A facility features climate-controlled units ranging from 25 to 400 square feet, as well as AI-enabled security cameras and sensors. Amenities include an open concept workspace, Wi-Fi in the leasing office and loading area, packing supplies, gated access and carts and dollies.

The 4.3-acre property is at 1300 E. Highland Ave., in the Inland Empire market, with access to U.S. Route 210 and less than 4 miles from downtown San Bernardino. Los Angeles is some 64 miles West of the facility. The property is one of the 11 available on a 3-mile radius, offering residents 3.9 rentable square feet per capita.

As of February, the Inland Empire had 11 self storage properties under construction, set to add roughly 820,500 square feet to the existing inventory, Yardi Matrix data shows. An additional 4.4 million square feet were in the planning and prospective stages.

Earlier this month, SecureSpace expanded its Los Angeles footprint with the acquisition of a 44,351-square-foot facility in Rosemead, Calif. In October of last year, the company opened a new self storage property in downtown Los Angeles. InSite developed the 130,188-square-foot facility.
