RXR Realty Tops Out Long Island Condo Project

The Beacon at Garvies Point will offer 167 units as part of an 80-acre waterfront development in Glen Cove, N.Y., a suburb of New York City.

RXR Realty has topped out The Beacon at Garvies Point, a waterfront condominium community in Glen Cove, N.Y. The LEED-certified property offers 167 units and is scheduled to open by the end of the year. Hunter Roberts served as the construction manager for the project.

The community is located within the larger 60-acre Garvies Point development. The Beacon features one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans ranging from 900 to 2,850 square feet. There are currently 65 apartments in contract, totaling more than $72 million in sales. The cost of a unit ranges from $700,000 to $3,000,000.

Common area amenities include a game and billiards room, resident lounge, clubroom and bar, movie theater, library, rooftop terraces, fitness center, yoga studio, outdoor pool, electric car charging stations, concierge and doorman. The community also offers convenient access to a ferry with service to Manhattan.

Garvies Point

The finished product of Garvies Point will offer 75,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, as well as a restaurant and cafe with outdoor seating. There will also be two residential buildings, The Beacon and Harbor Landing—which is also on track for completion this year. Garvies Point will offer residents amenities including 28 acres of public amenity space featuring a one-mile waterfront walkway with outdoor seating, playgrounds, a dog park, an amphitheater, miles of trails and bike paths, and kayak and boat launches.

“This has been the culmination of a 20-year effort to redevelop the site in cooperation with the City of Glen Cove, and we are so proud to have reached a momentous milestone with the topping out of The Beacon,” Joe Graziose, executive vice president of Residential Development and Construction at RXR Realty, told Multi-Housing News. “We are excited for Garvies Point to continue moving forward and create the most vibrant and livable Glen Cove in over a century.”

RXR has remained busy in the New York market. Last February, in a joint venture with Broadway Construction Group, the firm topped off 810 Fulton St. in Brooklyn, a mixed-use project in the neighborhood of Fort Greene. The development is scheduled for completion this year.
