Richmond Senior Community Lands $47M Refi

The 219-unit property is 93 percent occupied.

Discovery Senior Living has received a $47 million loan to refinance Discovery Village at the West End, a 219-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Richmond, Va.

BWE secured the financing, with Director Ryan Stoll and Senior Vice President Taylor Mokris working on behalf of the borrower. At the time of the deal, the community was 93 percent occupied.

Discovery Village at the West End comprises two buildings with 124 independent living units and 95 assisted living and memory care units. The property features studios and one- and two-bedroom floorplans ranging between 324 and 1,557 square feet.

Common-area amenities include a fitness center, wellness center, movie theater, beauty salon, club and bar, library and game room. The units feature washers and dryers, walk-in closets, keyless entry and balconies and patios.

The facility provides services such as on-site therapy, medication management, 24-hour nursing and medical care, emergency response system, housekeeping, transportation, restaurant-style dining and concierge services.

Located at 9801 Harmony Woods Way & 2422 University Blvd., Discovery Village at the West End is near interstates 64 and 295, which allows direct access to downtown Richmond. Deep Run Park & Recreation Center and Parham Hospital are within 3 miles of the property.

BWE has also recently arranged a $60 million senior loan for the refinancing of Viridium, a 318-unit apartment community in Woodbridge, Va., some 20 miles away from downtown Washington D.C.
