R.D. Olson Construction commenced work on a 55-unit affordable housing project in Fullerton, Calif. Related California is the developer of the asset and IDS Group is the architect of the 52,407-square-foot community. The project includes a 24,000-square-foot parking garage. This is the firm’s fourth affordable housing project, with completion expected in May 2018.

Located at 335 E. Santa Fe Ave., in close proximity to downtown Fullerton and adjacent to the area’s train station, the five-story project includes studios as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Apartments will be spread across two buildings, connected by a bridge on each floor. One of the 55 units will be the manager’s. Amenities will include:

  • a barbecue area
  • an on-site leasing office
  • laundry facilities
  • a bike storage room

The 180-unit Village at Calabasas, which was completed in 2016, marked R.D. Olson’s most recent affordable housing project. “With California experiencing a full-fledged housing crisis, we’re proud to be a trusted partner that will help provide much-needed housing to Orange County residents. This project is another great addition to R.D. Olson’s existing multifamily portfolio,” said R.D. Olson Construction Senior Vice President Ian Gardiner, in a prepared statement.
