State Farm Agent Appointed to JCCC Board of Trustees
- Oct 06, 2016
Kansas City, Mo.—Johnson County Community College (JCCC) started fresh this school year with a new Trustee on its Board. Henry Sandate is a State Farm insurance agent who recently filled the vacancy from several candidates. He will be up for re-election in Nov. 2017.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Board of Trustees for JCCC,” said Sandate in a prepared statement.
Sandate is also Chairman of the Argentine Neighborhood Development Association (ANDA), which has made a significant impact in the Argentine community. He is involved in the development, conversion and rehabilitation of two historic properties in the neighborhood: the former Simmons Funeral Home and El Centro building. Both properties were recently converted into senior housing communities.
ANDA’s mission is to resuscitate Kansas City’s Argentine neighborhood, which had begun showing signs of decay despite its stable population. A major strategy has been to provide quality, energy-efficient affordable housing to attract moderate-income families back to the neighborhood. The purpose is to balance the abundance of very-low-income housing and create a more mixed-income suburb.
ANDA is a Kansas non-profit community development corporation certified by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation as a Community Housing Development Organization. The business of the corporation is managed by an 11-member board of directors who serve without compensation.
