Laurel Street has broken ground on an upcoming 108-unit, Charlotte-area senior housing development. The property is part of the 1,070-acre master-planned community of Berewick, developed by Pappas Properties, bringing the requisite retirement component to the ensemble.

Belvedere at Berewick will be located on Dixie River Road, on a 6.5-acre parcel on the southern outskirts of Charlotte, N.C., and adjacent to the Berewick Elementary School. The Harris Teeter-anchored Town Center is situated south of the site, including tenants like Walgreen’s, Wendy’s and TCBY, as well as a 135-key Hampton Inn and Suites, currently under construction.

The age-restricted community will accommodate adults 55 and older, with monthly rents ranging between $1,100 and $1,500. Common on-site amenities will include community kitchen, fitness center and cyber café. The one- and two-bedroom units will feature high-end finishes, such as granite countertops, designer cabinetry and wood-style vinyl plank flooring.

“With so many families in the Berewick community and surrounding area, we see a strong demand for senior living,” said Dionne Nelson, president & CEO of Laurel Street.

The Berewick mixed-use development includes office, housing, retail and hospitality facilities, as well as one of the county’s largest district parks, offering a total of more than 300 acres of green space. The area provides easy access through interstates 485, 85 and 77, while Charlotte Douglas International Airport is within a 15-minute drive north of the community.
