DenverThe Opus Group has broken ground on The Glenn, the first project to get under way in a major mixed-use development in Centennial, Colo. The project will feature 306 luxury multifamily units and ground-floor retail space and is scheduled for completion in December 2017.

The six-story building will be an integral part of the 42-acre Jones District, a 1.8 million-square-foot master-planned project that will be the largest commercial development in this city located about 15 miles southeast of Denver.

Opus has been tapped to bring residential, hotel, office and retail projects to the District, while Opus Design Build will serve as design-builder and Opus AE Group as architect and structural engineer of record. Construction financing for The Jones District will be provided by First National Bank of Omaha.

“We’re thrilled to share our plans and kick off work for the first of many projects at The Jones District,” Peter Coakley, senior vice president & general manager at Opus Development Co., said in a statement. “The Glenn is a prime example of what’s in store for this community with spectacular mountain views, upscale amenities and convenient access to public transit—it’s a terrific project to start the 1.8 million square feet of development to come.”

Residents will have access to a plethora of upscale amenities, including pedestrian-friendly retail space on the ground floor, designated office space, a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, fire pit and outdoor landscaped grilling areas. The building’s sixth floor will also feature a club room and outdoor deck with views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

It’s been a busy week for The Opus Group in metropolitan Denver, as the company recently broke ground on a speculative industrial project in Aurora, just 14 miles from Centennial.
