- Apr 03, 2017
Kansas City, Mo.—Milhaus is preparing to break ground on Gallerie, a mixed-use apartment community in Kansas City, Mo. The 361-unit property will also include 7,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and plans for occupancy in 2018.
The Indianapolis-based developer is partnering with two locally headquartered companies, UC-B Properties and Hallmark, to do Gallerie. UC-B Properties will be Milhaus’ local development partner, while greeting card giant Hallmark, as the previous land owner (its headquarters is next door), holds a vested interested in the long-term success of the community.
Milhaus will transform eight acres of undeveloped property into the mixed-use Gallerie. In its location, the property will serve three Kansas City neighborhoods, according to the developer: Crown Center, Union Hill and Longfellow.
“We believe that the right development can and should improve the neighborhood around it, so we’re looking forward to converging these neighborhoods through Gallerie, and continuing to implement new businesses in the commercial space,” said Jeremy Stephenson, president of Milhaus Development & Milhaus Construction.
Besides Kansas City, Milhaus currently has projects under development in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City and Pittsburgh. According to Stepenson, the company’s goal is to have 20,000 units in 10 markets by 2020.
