Jersey City Waterfront Luxury Community Debuts
- Aug 28, 2018
The Hampshire Cos., Claremont Cos. and New Jersey City University, along with local officials, have opened the doors of RIVET, Jersey City’s newest luxury apartment development. Part of a larger project—University Place—the community consists of 163 units and 10,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. Greystar provides property management services for the asset.
Located at 23 University Blvd. in the city’s west end neighborhood, RIVET is close to a Bergen Hudson Light Rail stop, providing access to Hoboken and the Hackensack River waterfront, as well as the opportunity to transfer to a PATH train for an easy commute to New York City. The public-private partnership resulted in 27 studios, 112 one- and 24 two-bedroom units, ranging from 550 to 1,300 square feet. Each apartment includes stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, white cabinetry, porcelain floor tiles in bathrooms, washers and dryers.
RIVET features a cyber cafe with Wi-Fi access, Butterfly MX virtual entry and package delivery system, a 15,000-square-foot courtyard with a sundeck, lounge seating, gaming areas, grilling stations, movie screenings, a pet washing space and a fitness center. Leasing has already begun at RIVET, with monthly rents starting at $1,590.
The community is the first phase of a mixed-use master plan known as University Place, a large-scale project that encompasses 1,000 new luxury units across eight buildings and access to more than 120,000 square feet of retail space, as well as a performing arts center, cafes, theaters and green space.
“The University Place project marks the next chapter in Jersey City’s remarkable story and we are honored to be a part of that story with the opening of RIVET. This project serves as an important milestone in the transformation of the City’s west end,” said James Hanson II, president and CEO of The Hampshire Cos., in a prepared statement.
