Herman & Kittle Properties Opens Affordable Community in Indiana

The Gables, a $31 million development in Greenwood, Ind., has opened. Herman & Kittle Properties Inc. developed the 274-unit affordable housing community that includes 28 Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant apartments. In 2018, the same developer completed work on a 249-unit property in downtown Indianapolis

Located at 1497 W. Smith Valley Road just east of Indiana State Road 135 and 12 miles south from the city of Indianapolis, The Gables is close to Greenwood Park Mall, several local dining options, as well as West Side Park and Woodman Park. The recently built property is within the Center Grove school district, which serves more than 7,000 students in grades K through 12. Additionally, the Indianapolis International Airport is 20 miles from the community. 

The community features both low-income housing tax credit and market-rate apartments. The Gables comprises one- to four-bedroom units in two- and three-story buildings. Amenities include a community building, business center, exercise room, optional storage, swimming pool, playground, bike rack and pet area.
