Philadelphia—In a move that sets it apart from other real estate and construction companies, Post Brothers Apartments recently announced it will implement the VITA Products Inc. Emergency Response Profile (ERP) Safety Platform for its workforce. This revolutionary system incorporates electronic tags into employees’ hard hats—containing each individual’s identification and health information—which first responders can access in the event of a workplace accident.

“We are proud to be the first construction company to use this technology,” said Post Brothers CEO Michael Pestronk. “It is our goal to never have an accident at one of our work sites, but if we do have one, we want to make sure that our employees can get the treatment they need quickly. If necessary, this technology allows first responders to implement life-saving measures with a more complete picture of an individual’s health needs and history.”

The VITA ERP system is a patent-pending technology platform that connects electronic medical health records to a unique identification number, which can be placed not only within hardhats, but also on any item of clothing or wearable accessory. First responders can access the information by calling a 1-800 number and giving the unique ID number to a VITA Telephone Access Center representative.

“An estimated 60 million Americans have a medical condition that should be known in times of emergency,” said David Waxman, co-founder and CEO of VITA. “This technology not only makes employees safer in the event of an accident, but it also requires them to get to know their own personal health record, which will encourage them to take more control over their health and overall wellness.”

The Philadelphia-based Post Brothers is set to have 45 employees on the platform at all of its active projects. Additionally, the VITA ERP technology has also been licensed for other purposes, such as a wristband for active adults and watches for those seeking more fashionable uses. The customer that wears the ERP product has full control over the information they wish to include, entering as little or as much in the categories provided.

Founded in 2007, Post Brothers Apartments focuses exclusively on creating and operating infill, Class A buildings. Over the past four years, they have acquired nine different properties with more than 1,200 rental apartment units in the Philadelphia area. The company touts an achieved rent level of nearly 100 percent higher than previously existed on a given property.
