Pathway to Living, a Chicago-based specialist in senior housing communities formerly known as Pathway Senior Living, acquired Elmcroft of Kentwood in Kentwood, Mich. Located at 4352 Breton Road SE, about 10 miles from Grand Rapids, the assisted living and memory care community has been rebranded Azpira Place of Breton.
In the coming months, Pathway to Living will undertake a capital improvement program at the property that will include upgrading interiors and adding additional spaces to support a wellness-focused lifestyle for residents. Some unit layouts will also be reconfigured.
When the work is complete, Azpira Place of Breton will offer a total of 81 apartments. There will be 69 assisted living units in studio and one-bedroom layouts, as well as 12 memory care units in studio or shared-suite plans.
Pathway Expands into Michigan
“The acquisition gives us an immediate presence in an underserved market and aligns with our strategy of investing in properties where there’s room to add amenities,” said Jerome Finis, CEO of Pathway to Living.
The purchase of Azpira Place of Breton from Kentucky-based Elmcroft Senior Living is Pathway to Living’s first acquisition of 2018. The property is also the company’s first in Michigan, and will be managed by Pathway to Living. The firm now owns or manages 29 communities comprising about 2,800 units.
