Chicago—Ocius, a provider of resident billing and utility invoice processing services for apartment managers, announced a new program to encourage residents to receive their monthly statements via email.
For each resident that opts for an electronic statement in the month of July, Ocius will plant a tree. The trees, which the company hopes will number in the tens of thousands, will be planted by The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, considered one of the most endangered tropical forests.
A recent nationwide resident survey conducted by Ocius revealed that more than 60 percent of residents preferred to receive their statements via email. “Most residents just aren’t aware of how easy it is to switch, so we made a special web page and let them use our toll-free number,” says John Gunn, vice president sales and marketing for Ocius. “We feel good about helping apartment residents and the planet at the same time.”
Ocius is also helping apartment managers go green with its Utilities Express™ utility invoice processing service. In addition to lowering total utility expenses, the service provides automated integration with EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. This allows property managers to simplify the process of submitting their utility consumption data into the program, which is becoming a requirement in an ever-increasing number of municipalities.
