San Antonio—After receiving approval from the Zoning Commission earlier this month to turn the abandoned Lone Star Brewery into a mixed-use development, announcements continue with the developer selected for the first apartment building in the $300 million redevelopment project.
Cleveland-based NRP Group is under contract to acquire approximately 2.5 acres of land in the complex along the Mission Reach trail, reported San Antonio Express-News. The developer plans to build a five-story apartment building encompassing approximately 250 units; construction is scheduled to begin next summer and completed by late 2018.
Lone Star Brewery’s lead developers, Aqualand Development of San Marcos and CBL & Associates Properties of Chattanooga, Tenn., have plans to include three multifamily properties in the 32-acre project, as well as 376,000 square feet of retail and office space. The residential component will total about 750 units, but it’s not carved in stone as the project’s developers might increase the space allocated for the residential segment as they buy more land.
