Austin, Texas—70 Rainey, a luxury high-rise condominium tower, will break ground in August in Austin’s burgeoning Rainey Street neighborhood, next to downtown’s Hotel Van Zandt. The 34-story residential building will rise more than 100 feet higher than surrounding buildings, according to a prepared statement released by developer Sackman Enterprises of Manhattan.
“Today is the culmination of a tremendous amount of hard work and positive collaboration among Sackman Austin, city of Austin officials, Rainey Street District Neighborhood Association, Rainey Business Coalition, the Mexican American Cultural Center and many other stakeholders,” said C.J. Sackman, director of development for 70 Rainey. “We are excited and proud to see our shared vision for the future of this treasured downtown cultural district beginning to take shape.”
70 Rainey will feature 164 residences, a restaurant and a second floor patio bar. An outdoor amenity deck located 100 feet above ground level will include a spacious garden, vanishing-edge pool and waterfall, experiential sundeck, yoga deck, fire pit, meandering walkways and an outdoor lounge with kitchen.
All the condominiums will have elevated ceilings, terraces, smart thermostats and a high-speed fiber network. Penthouses will include private rooftop terraces. Residents of the high-rise will have access to a vast array of amenities, including a therapeutic plunge pool, sauna, steam showers, fitness facility, catering kitchen, outdoor kitchen, business center, a dog park and washing/grooming station, and a 24/7 concierge.
“Once a sleepy little residential neighborhood at the edge of downtown Austin, Rainey Street has become one of the city’s signature entertainment districts,” said Sackman. “Now, it is evolving to become more of an upscale residential and restaurant district, but with the same unique vibe. We are sharply focused on respecting Rainey’s history, and making what’s good about it even better.”
Sackman anticipates the completion date for 70 Rainey in the first quarter of 2018.
