Guangzhou, China—Solis Hotels & Resorts announced plans to build a luxury 260-unit hotel in Guangzhou, China. The Solis Guangzhou will be the company’s third property under construction in China this year and will be built in partnership with owner Jiachuang Investment Group, a local-based hotel, commercial and real estate development company.
Located in Guangzhou’s thriving commercial area and a short distance away from the city’s historic shopping and tourist district of Liwan, Solis Guangzhou, will be the first five-star hotel along the banks of Pearl River. The luxurious hotel is part of a mixed-use project that also features 48 fully serviced residences and commercial offices.
Designed by Singapore architectural and design firm Eco-id, Solis Guangzhou will incorporate a fluid architectural style which, through the accentuated use of glass and light, will showcase the scenic Pearl River. The past and the future will seamlessly meet as four restored brick-encased oil drums, built during the Qing Dynasty, will be converted into a cultural center, restaurant, library and modern lobby.
High-end amenities will include a private dock, state-of-the art spa and fitness center, executive club lounge and a rooftop infinity pool and sky lounge. The hotel will feature an all-day restaurant, a fine dining Chinese restaurant, a riverside café and a specialty restaurant.
Guangzhou, the third largest city in China and the economical epicenter of southern China, attracts numerous conventions, exhibitions, as well as a high number of tourists. The Solis Guangzhou plans to take advantage of events such as the biannual Canton Fair, the largest import and export expo in China. The hotel will feature a grand ballroom with a capacity of 350 people and two VIP meeting spaces totaling 1,780 square meters (around 19,000 square feet). A cultural center and a large function lobby will also serve as additional gathering areas.
The Solis Guangzhou is expected to become one of the top destinations in the area upon completion in the fourth quarter of 2013.
