Austin, TexasDMA Development Co. recently broke ground on Aldrich 51, a new affordable housing project within Austin’s Mueller mixed-use development. The new community is located at 2604 Aldrich St. between Barbara Jordan Boulevard and 51 Street, right next to the AISD Performing Arts Center.

The four-story, 240-unit residential community will sit on approximately 3 acres and will offer a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Roughly 85 percent of the units will be allocated to families, working couples, single parents and older adults who earn 30 to 60 percent of the area’s median income, which ranges from $32,000 a year for one person to $41,250 a year for a family of four. The limits are adjusted annually.

Community amenities will include a swimming pool, fitness studio, rain garden, coffee lounge, training classroom, laundry facilities and a community room with kitchen. Moreover, the building will be LEED certified, and will feature a range of energy-saving features, including ENERGY STAR rated appliances, 14 SEER HVAC system and efficient water fixtures.  Unit amenities feature a full appliance package, 9-foot ceilings, washer/dryer hookups, and ceiling fans. Garage parking and secured bicycle parking are also provided at the community, which is expected to be complete by June 2017.
