Material ConneXion Opens its 11th Library in Tokyo

Tokyo—Material ConneXion announced the official opening of its 11th international library, located in Tokyo, Japan. The new location will be celebrated with an opening on Monday, October 7th and an open house event on Monday, October 21st during Tokyo Designers Week. Material ConneXion Tokyo is licensed to the Japanese printing giant Nissha Printing Co. Ltd.
Over the past three years, Material ConneXion has expanded its reach to Korea, Turkey, China and Sweden, establishing networks and business relationships that led to the opening of the Japanese branch.
Material ConneXion Tokyo will be located in the Aoyama district, which is the design, architecture and luxury center of Tokyo, and will be hosted in the Minami-Aoyama building, renowned for the presence of numerous designers and architects, including global architecture and design firm Gensler.
Material ConneXion Tokyo will open its doors with an initial library of 500 samples and an additional 40 new materials each month. The library will offer membership and consulting services to designers from all disciplines with the expert support of its in-house material scientists and material specialists.
The office has been designed by Hiroshi Shirasaki, owner of Planet Design and Consulting, who is also the mind behind Gucci Ginza, Miu Miu Aoyama and Unicro Paris.
