San Antonio—Autumn Leaves of Stone Oak, a new construction memory-care property, has opened in San Antonio. The 30,000-square-foot facility is at 20271 Stone Oak Parkway, 14 miles north of downtown, and will provide specialized care for about 50 residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory impairment.

Autumn Leaves of Stone Oak offers a “life-engagement program” to help meet residents’ needs for artistic expression, physical activity, spiritual support and other forms of lifestyle and leisure, according to the developer, Irvine, Texas-based LaSalle Group. The property uses high-tech equipment to help keep the residents safe. Respite care is also available at the property.

Amenities include a full-service beauty and barber salon, on-site caregivers and meals prepared by a chef. The staff undergoes training to help them understand the behavioral and cognitive changes that residents experience as the result of Alzheimer’s or other dementia.

The property also offers free programs to the public, including seminars, speakers, and monthly Alzheimer’s support groups. According to Ginny Brown, director of sales and marketing for Autumn Leaves of Stone Oak, the educational programs and support groups seek to “take the fear out of the diagnosis.”

Autumn Leaves is LaSalle Group’s brand of memory-care assisted living properties. Currently the company owns 36 Autumn Leaves properties in four states, with about 1,800 residents.
