Newport Beach, Calif.—W. Dean Henry, a 40-year multifamily industry veteran, has been appointed CEO of KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT. This is a non-traded REIT co-sponsored by KBS Capital Advisors LLC and Legacy Partners Residential Inc. (LPRI).  Henry succeeds C. Preston Butcher, who will continue to serve as chairman of the KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT board of directors.

Henry, an industry expert on acquisitions and development, financing, management and dispositions of apartment assets, has been executive vice president of KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT since its inception in August 2009.

“I am flattered to follow one of the true icons in the real estate industry, my friend and partner for almost 40 years, Preston Butcher, as the new chief executive officer of Legacy Partners Residential,” Henry tells MHN. “We will endeavor to follow the guidance he has provided us for many years as we pursue our efforts to be the very best we can be.”

Henry is chairman of the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Multifamily Leadership Board (MLB), and serves on the executive committee of the National Multi-Housing Council.

Henry already has a plan of action as CEO.

“We anticipate continuing to be active buyers of apartments throughout the country, as we believe this is an excellent time to buy and own real estate, especially apartments,” he says.
