Verona, N.J.—The second phase of Highlands at Hilltop in Verona, N.J., has opened. The phase, which is adjacent to the first phase, adds 130 rental units to the community, as well as a 6,000 square-foot club room, outdoor pool, computer center, billiards, a golf simulator and other amenities.

The second phase is a development of JMP Holdings and Canoe Brook Associates. The first phase includes 95 rental units that are 100 percent occupied. Phase one features its own 4,700 square-foot clubhouse and an outdoor pool.

According to Canoe Brook Associates’ Carl Goldberg, there’s strong demand for high-end rentals in the market. Verona (known nationally for appearing as a location in The Sopranos) is roughly 20 miles from Manhattan, and considerably closer to downtown Montclair, N.J., which is known for its boutique shopping.

The Montclair Art Museum, Nutley Museum, Paper Mill Playhouse and Lambert Castle Museum are all close by.

Highlands at Hilltop’s one- and two-bedroom residences, priced from the $2,400s and $2,900s respectively, range in size from 698 square feet to 1,546 square feet, and most units include outdoor space. Unit amenities include granite countertops, beech wood floors, and dark espresso wood cabinets.

New Jersey-based JMP Holdings develops commercial, residential, and healthcare properties nationwide. Recently it was featured in Extreme Makeover Home Edition for rebuilding a home in Irvington, N.J.
