Horizon Realty Group Welcomes Residents to Chicago Community

Horizon Realty Group has opened the doors to its most recent Chicago community, The District @ Sheridan. The delivery of the first 40 units on the south side of the development took two years and $5 million to complete, while 40 more units are still awaiting final touches and will be ready by May.

The building is located at 5536 N. Sheridan Road in Edgewater and was initially built in 1966. The upgraded community features studio, one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 431 to 828 square feet which can be rented starting at $1,390 per month.  

“We wanted to create a living space that was infused with a strong sense of hospitality―a boutique hotel feel,” said Jeffrey Michael, Horizon’s COO, in a prepared statement.

Horizon purchased the building in 2017 and completely transformed it, having replaced the plumbing, electrical system, windows, walls, flooring, lighting, kitchens and bathrooms and all other finishes. Each unit comes with oak hardwood floors. Amenities include media room, self-service dog spa and state-of-the-art fitness center.

The transformation of the community is similar to another Horizon property, The Edge @ Sheridan, which the company purchased in 2016 and fully upgraded in 18 months. The 36-unit building is now completely leased.
